Preferred name: Architectural elements found within the Forum
A large amount of erratic architectural elements are spread within the Civil Forum of Pompeii. Presently they are placed along the stylobate of the Forum portico and along the front of the buildings surrounding the Forum itself.
They are mainly shafts of columns, capitals and portions of entablature; these, in turn, are classified as fragments of cornice, frieze or trabeation. The significant differences between those findings suggest that they come from different buildings, or from different parts of the same building. Therefore, their current location does not correspond to the original one. At the moment, however, it is not possible to state with certainty to which monument each of the findings belonged.
