Type: public buildings
The Administration buildings are displayed along the South side of the Civil Forum of Pompeii, being positioned south-west of the longitudinal axis of the Forum. Similar in size, all of the three buildings consist of a single hall, with a rounded or squared apse at the end. They are also joint in the 'opus latericium' and marble facades, being separated by narrow interspaces. The buildings are quite different inside: the eastern building has homogeneous 'opus incertum' walls, whereas the central one is characterized by an 'opus testaceum' socket with protruding pilasters. The western building is decorated by a series of niches, simmetrically arranged. The first two buildings are raised above the floor of the portico: the first is accessible by two steps, the second through a platform served by two lateral flights. In the last building, which still retains the paving slabs of marble, the steps to fill the gap with the portico, are displayed backward, inside the building.
